A Rene Lalique French opalescent art glass coupe bowl. It is in the'Bulbes' pattern model 3300 and dates around 1935 during the Art Deco period, the golden era of Lalique Glass. It is of sinuous design and this combined with the opalescence makes the item look as if it is melting ice. As you can see in the images, when set on a dark ground the colour shows as a blueish tint. But if strongly backlit it turns into fiery orange tones, like an opal (hence the term opalescent). The Lalique mark is an acid stencil to the inside base of the bowl on this example. The round bulbes at the base protrude out a little from the body forming the feet. A classic piece of Lalique from the Deco period. Good order with light period wear and light scratches to the inner base, and wear to the underside as you would expect. If for any reason you are unhappy with your item please let us know as soon as possible, and we will do our best to put things right.
