From a very fine California estate comes this rare and exceptional French Art Nouveau Pate De Verre Glass Inkwell. It is by the famous Almaric Walter and Henri Berge who worked at Daum Nancy in the early 1900's. Their work is extremely hard to come by and in all my years of antiquing, this is the first piece I have had the pleasure of holding in my hands. I was amazed at how heavy the piece was the first time I picked it up.Their work is true Art Nouveau in design, using wonderful Nature inspired sculpted images such as the beautiful flowers and leaves adorning this piece. The colors are rich and deep yellows, oranges, reds deepening to burgundy and greens and it all sings in harmony. It is an open inkwell with a metal liner. It may have had a lid but I came by it this way. The piece is shaped almost like a lily pad and measures approx 4" by 4" and 2 1/4 high. It has a few tiny chips that I have showed in the photos but overall in very good condition. What a rare and beautiful piece of French Art Glass for your collection!
